LONDON, October 18, 2017 (BUSINESS WIRE) - Scientist.com, the world's leading marketplace for outsourced scientific services, today announced that it is entering into a collaboration with the UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre (UKCRC TDCC) to support the work of biobanks throughout the United Kingdom. The partnership will enable drug R&D to move forward more quickly by making large collections of prescreened human biological samples available for scientific research.
Through the new COMPLI™ feature, Scientist.com provides a simple, efficient and effective way of increasing the visibility and accessibility of biobanks’ human biological samples collections, which support new medical research. COMPLI™ introduces a common, comprehensive process and supply agreement supporting access to human biosamples. The goal is to enable biobanks to more easily connect with researchers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and academia.
“Our goal is to put researchers who require human biological samples in touch with biobanks that have those samples in a platform that promotes compliance, efficiency, transparency, control and respect for the original donor,” stated Matt McLoughlin, Senior Director of Compliance at Scientist.com.
The UKCRC TDCC supports the work of biobanks by improving visibility of their human tissue samples for research purposes. The Centre helps biobanks maintain sustainability by providing access to consistent revenue streams that support the ongoing upkeep and maintenance necessary to keep biobanks compliant with ethical standards and governmental regulations.

About the UKCRC TDCC
The UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordinator Centre was set up to support the work of biobanks by improving access to their human samples for research purposes. This was a direct response to the UKCRC Funders’ Vision for Human Tissue Resources, which sought for the maximisation of human tissue samples and resources for medical research. The UKCRC funders that have funded the Centre include Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, National Institute for Health Research, Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation, Chief Scientist Office (Scottish Government Health Directorates), Health and Care Research Wales and the HSC Research and Development Division, Public Health Agency for Northern Ireland.
