The group is structured as seven specialist units: Diagnostic Services, API Services and Chemical Development, Pharmaceutical Development, Analytical and Solid State Services, Clinical Services, Clinical Technologies, and Commercial Services. On the diagnostics side, laboratories in the UK and US plus a partner laboratory in Asia run whole exome, whole genome, and whole genome methylation sequencing, liquid biopsy assays, and companion diagnostic work from development and validation through manufacture and commercialization, backed by bioinformatics, biostatistics, pathology, and EU IVDR guidance. That unit also issues claraT, a gene expression report used in oncology research. Privately owned and grown organically over five decades, Almac employs more than 7,900 people across 18 facilities in Europe, North America, and Asia, and states that in the past five years it contributed to roughly half of all FDA-approved New Molecular Entities while currently supporting 30 percent of EU-approved or pre-registered gene therapy products.
